Dermot McGlinchey Lifetime Achievement Award

The Dermot McGlinchey Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 1996 to honor the memory of Dermot McGlinchey, who graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences in 1954 and Tulane Law School in 1957. This award honors those who have demonstrated service, volunteer involvement and commitment to Tulane and their hometown communities.

Award Criteria

  • Outstanding career accomplishments and/or excellence in a chosen field of endeavor
  • Service to the community
  • Significant volunteer leadership at Tulane
  • Awards from other organizations
  • Commitment to Tulane University

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who, through their remarkable attainments in professional and civic life, have brought honor to themselves and Tulane University, and whose accomplishments and contributions have had broad impact and positive effect on others. Recipients of this award are celebrated for going beyond their successful vocation and bringing benefit to the greater community.

Award Criteria

The candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Superior leadership and depth in his or her chosen activities;
  • Demonstrated passion for the interests of Tulane University; and
  • A lifetime of service to the university as a volunteer, donor and/or advocate.

Additional Criteria:

  • The recipient must be an alumnus/a of Tulane University.
  • The recipient should have definable career accomplishments and/or excellence in his/her chosen field of endeavor.
  • The recipient must be in attendance at the designated ceremony in order to receive the award.

Bobby Boudreau Spirit Award

THE BOBBY BOUDREAU SPIRIT AWARD

Bobby Boudreau (B ’51, L ’53) was a most beloved cheerleader of all things Tulane. To honor his memory, the university has established the Bobby Boudreau Spirit Award. In addition, the victory bell has been dedicated as the Bobby Boudreau Spirit Bell.

The Bobby Boudreau Award is given to an individual or organization that best represents Tulane University’s “Roll Wave” Spirit. Recipients of this award are characterized by their kind generosity, support, and dedication to Tulane University and its communities.

AWARD CRITERIA

The Bobby Boudreau Spirit Award will be given annually to the individual or organization that best represents Tulane University’s “Roll Wave” Spirit.

Each year, the Bobby Boudreau Spirit Award honoree will receive a miniature replica of the spirit bell and the individual or organization’s name will be inscribed on the Spirit Bell plaque.

The nominee does not need to be a Tulane alumnus or alumna

Nominations for the Spirit Award will be solicited from the entire alumni and Tulane community population.

The Spirit Award selection will be made by the Tulane Alumni Association Awards Committee.

International Award for Exceptional Achievement

The International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement recognizes and honors alumni in the international community who exemplify the highest standards of excellence and have distinguished themselves in any field, vocational or philanthropic, covering an entire career.This award may be given to a U.S. citizen residing outside of the United States or a citizen of another country who lives outside the United States.

Award Criteria

The candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Sustained accomplishments that have brought distinction to himself or herself, the international community and to Tulane University;
  • Recognized contributions that have brought acclaim and commendation to the international alumni community; and
  • Demonstrated support to Tulane University in its international outreach undertakings.

Additional Criteria:

  • The recipient must be an alumnus/a of Tulane University.
  • The recipient must reside outside of the United States at the time of nomination.
  • The recipient must be in attendance at the designated ceremony in order to receive the award.

Lisa Jackson Professional Achievement Award

The purpose of the Lisa Jackson Alumni Professional Achievement award is to recognize the university’s alumni who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, and whose contributions honor the legacy of excellence at Tulane University.

Award Criteria

The candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Leadership and depth in his or her chosen professional activities;
  • Exemplary achievements rooted in his or her education at Tulane University;
  • Commitment and goodwill demonstrated toward Tulane University;
  • Impact and legacy resulting from the candidate’s involvements; and
  • Future potential to serve as a Tulane University volunteer, donor and/or advocate.

Additional Criteria:

  • The recipient must be an alumnus/a of Tulane University.
  • The recipient must be in attendance at the designated ceremony in order to receive the award.

Robert V. Tessaro Young Alumni Volunteer Award

The Robert V. Tessaro Young Alumni Volunteer Award is given to a recent graduate who through their dedicated and voluntary efforts to support the programs and mission of Tulane, express their gratitude to the University and ensure its enlarging impact on our community and future generations of students.

Award Criteria

The candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • An early record of distinguished service to Tulane University; and
  • Continued interest in serving the university in his/her life.

Additional Criteria:

  • The recipient must be an alumnus/a of Tulane University.
  • The recipient must have attained alumni status within ten years.
  • The recipient must be forty or younger at the time of the nomination.
  • The recipient must be in attendance at the designated ceremony in order to receive the award.

Scott Cowen Service Award

The Scott Cowen Alumni Service Award is given for extended, extraordinary service to the University and local communities. Named after Tulane’s beloved 14th President, it recognizes the achievements of alumni who, through their dedicated and voluntary efforts, support the programs and mission of Tulane and their communities. President Cowen exemplifies the meaning of unselfish and committed service to the University and community. Since President Cowen’s arrival in 1998, Tulane has more than quintupled its undergraduate applications while experiencing all-time highs in student quality. In addition, Tulane has more than doubled the level of total private giving to the University and received a record level of research awards. The University has implemented a number of innovative academic and research program initiatives and significantly increased its community outreach, including most recently The Cowen Service Challenge, where students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Tulane are challenged to donate 750,000 community service hours through April 2014.

The recipient must prove to have expressed his or her gratitude to the University and ensure a growing impact on the Tulane community and future generations of students. Efforts may include working on behalf of the University through service in alumni programs, on advisory committees, and/or through efforts made to ensure the welfare of the institution and alumni. Additionally, the award honors alumni who have unselfishly and generously contributed their time and talents for the enrichment of others and the betterment of their communities, and recognizes those individuals who have given of themselves in support of various civic, charitable, philanthropic and social welfare organizations.

Award Criteria

The candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Extraordinary service that has served Tulane University and/or the Tulane community with distinction;
  • Depth and breadth in his or her service activities; and
  • Sustained involvement in providing service.

  • The recipient must be in attendance at the designated ceremony in order to receive the award.
